Screenings are a useful by-product of the crushing process of various stone types - most often limestone or granite rock. Screenings come in sizes 3/8" down to dust. Commonly a white-yellow color, it can also be gray, black, brown or red depending on the area.
Applications:
Its particle sizes and compactibility make it useful as a leveling agent and base material for a variety of projects to go under things like pavers or flagstone, as well as for a finishing layer to go over the top of pavers, flagstone, walkways, parking areas or retaining walls.
Screenings are also used as a safe and effective footing material for horse arenas, stalls, and for barn flooring.
